The best gift to give a Disney World Cast Member
If you are like me you like to give back to the cast members. After all they will really make or break your trip. A good interaction can make a day even more special or make a bad day better. But what is really the best gift to give a cast member who goes out of their way to make your day special?
Our last family trip was in April 2024. It was my son, my sister and I and we had had a bit of a roller coaster of a trip. Undoubtedly my son will get sick on a Disney trip. It always happens and I always plan for it. However this time I got sick. It only lasted one day but I was down the entire day. I don’t even have one picture from that day, that’s how bad I felt. I was celebrating my birthday on this trip and that day my sister had to be aunt and mom. On the very last day of that trip we spent the morning at Hollywood Studios. I was finally feeling back to normal and we stopped at Hollywood Scoops for the blueberry mickey waffles (only available until 10!). We were sitting at the nice shaded picnic tables in front of Catalina Eddie’s when a cast member started yelling “who is celebrating something special?” I raised my hand and said we were celebrating my birthday. “OK, hold on” he replied and he ran away…
He was gone for a few minutes and when he returned he was holding three celebration buttons. Two “I’m celebrating” and one Birthday button. On the I’m celebrating button he wrote “Amanda turning 22”. This was of course a nice gesture because it’s been a few decades since I celebrated 22. This made our whole day.
And this brings me back to the best gift to give a cast member and that is a Cast Compliment! You can find this in your My Disney Experience App and it’s really easy to do. Here’s how:
First open up your My Disney Experience App
.
Click the hamburger (the three lines) on the bottom right.
Scroll all the way to the bottom and click on Cast Compliments.
First you will choose why you are complimenting them.
Next is the location of where you were at the time of your interaction with that cast member.
When you are interacting with this cast member take a peak at their name tag.
The name tag will give you their first name and hometown. If you can remember these things it will help you have a more accurate cast compliment!
We had a ton of great cast interactions that trip. I tried to pay more attention to the people we came in contact with and give at least one cast compliment a day. It’s a great way to give back to those who help make every Disney trip magical! Have you had any great cast member interactions? Let me know in the comments!
